Geographical Information System (GIS)
NDDB has developed an internet based Dairy Geographical Information System (i-DGIS), which contains locational and attribute information of over 5 Lakh villages out of approximately 6 Lakh inhabited villages in the country, (which includes all villages in the major milk producing States of the country) along with all towns & cities, as per Census of India.
i-DGIS can be used as a strong visualization tool, for planning of activities of your operational area, as human census, livestock census & landuse/landcover of the village is integrated and provided in ONE place on the digital map.
Therefore, if you are a Govt. AH Department/ EIA under NDP-1/ Milk Union/Producer Company/Federation ,we now invite you to participate in i-DGIS programme. NDDB has developed a programme exclusively for Milk Unions, to utilize the potential of GIS applications, using Open source Software QGIS (Can be freely downloaded from www.qgis.org) and GIS database. This will be an independent setup at Milk Union level to analyze their business data. This would be a stage wise implementation programme comprising of field data collection, processing and analysis.
NDDB shall provide the GIS Database of the operational districts in milk shed area subject to execution of a MOU between NDDB and the Milk Union. It would provide appropriate training and initial handholding for implementation of aforesaid programme.
