Centre for Analysis & Learning in Livestock & Food
Recognizing the importance and need for reliable and efficient analytical services for the livestock sector, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) established a multi-disciplinary laboratory i.e. Centre of Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) at Anand in 2009. With state-of-the-art equipment, advanced technologies and qualified technical staff, CALF offers a range of reliable and accurate analytical testing services in the field of dairy products & food, animal feed & ingredients and genetics.
A. Major area of service
I. Analysis of dairy and food products for compositional analysis, fat soluble & B-complex vitamins, fatty acids, cholesterol, sugar profile and minerals of nutritional importance. The samples are also analysed for contaminant and toxicant like pesticide residues, melamine, heavy metals, pathogens, drug residue, adulterants and aflatoxin M1, B1, G1, B2 and G2
II. Analysis of cattle feed and its ingredients for proximate analysis, aflatoxin B1, mineral elements, amino acids and vitamins.
III. Analysis of mineral mixture and mineral salts for various mineral elements and heavy metals.
IV. Analysis of blood and semen - Parentage verification, genetic disorders and chromosomal abnormalities for cattle and buffaloes.
V. Training for quality control personnel of dairy industry is organized through customized programs.
B. Accreditation and Recognition
I. NABL as per ISO 17025: The laboratory is accredited as per the ISO 17025: 2005 by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for chemical and biological testing covering microbiological & genetics analysis.
II. FSSAI: Laboratory is recognised as a referral laboratory by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for the milk and milk products (Scope)
III. Bureau of Indian Standard: A special recognition status has also been granted by Bureau of Indian Standards for milk products, cattle feed and mineral mixture under Group-2 specialized labs (Scope)
